Pilot Javone Logan Cowan, 25, killed and one injured in mid-air collision between crop dusting planes near Zamora, California
It is believed the planes are owned by Growers Air Service.
Whether the planes were carrying chemicals used to treat field crops is unknown.
Cowan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 7:45 a.m. near County Roads 13 and 99E, near the town of Zamora. The pilot of the second plane landed in a nearby field and escaped with unspecified injuries, according to Yolo County sheriff’s officials.
