A driver led La Mesa police on a chase Wednesday night that entered Lemon Grove and ended in a crash and arrest. No one was injured.

At around 9:35 p.m. a La Mesa officer observed a driver in a white Dodge Charger run a stop sign at Waite Drive and Harris Street. The driver ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over, kicking off a chase on state Highway 94 and city streets.
The Dodge’s driver turned off his lights and attempted to lose officers by running stop signs and red traffic signals, according to a statement from La Mesa police.
The Dodge reached a maximum speed of 80 mph on Highway 94 and 50 mph on city streets before crashing into a utility box and a tree near the intersection of Central and Lemon Grove avenues.
Police arrested Matthew Bailey, 29, of Lemon Grove on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and felony evading.
