A speeding driver crashed into a wall at a Lakeside home early Thursday morning, narrowly missing a baby sleeping in his crib.

The crash at the home on Los Coches Road near Lakeview Road was reported just after 2 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

A man who lives at the house, stated that he was asleep when he heard the loud crash and then heard screaming.

He ran to his son's room where he found that the car had smashed into a desk and pushed the crib to the side. The woman who was driving was outside lying on the ground.

The baby’s mother was also sleeping in the room at the time. She was “hysterical” but not hurt. The baby didn’t even cry, the father said.

The CHP initially determined that the driver was going too fast. She was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, the CHP said.
