Father of 3 hit, killed on SR-52

CHP identified that driver of the SUV as Michael Gilbert Gray. Authorities said Gray was driving without a valid license at the time of the incident. He is being charged with first-degree murder, hit-and-run, gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving under the influence resulting in bodily injury.

More than 100 tow truck drivers led a procession down State Route 52 in honor of Fred Griffith, who was struck and killed on highway in February.

Man Pleads Guilty in Tow Truck Driver's Death

Michael Gilbert Gray, 50, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with two serious felony priors, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.      

Man who hit, killed tow-truck driver sentenced

Gray was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison.
