Gilroy: Victim identified in fatal Highway 152 crash

GILROY -- Authorities have identified a 76-year-old Gilroy man who was killed in a crash on Highway 152 early Monday, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office. The driver suffered major injuries and 49-year-old Los Banos woman also riding in the car suffered moderate injuries, the CHP said. Investigators say the car, driven by an 18-year-old Gilroy woman, hydroplaned, spun out of control, hit a hillside and rolled back toward the roadway and landed on its roof. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash. Pineda, who the CHP said was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
