Hau Nguyen, 28, and Andre Brutus, 25, killed in single-vehicle crash into tree off of Skyline Boulevard in San Mateo County, California

SAN MATEO COUNTY -- A 28-year-old San Jose man and a 25-year-old Millbrae man were killed Sunday night after the Porsche they were driving in spun out of control and crashed into a tree in a rural area of San Mateo County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP identified Hau Nguyen, a San Jose engineer, as the driver who was pronounced dead at the crash scene on Skyline Boulevard, where his Porsche hit a tree near Harkins Road at about 9:40 p.m. The car hit the tree so hard it rotated around it, according to the CHP. Howard Mintz covers legal affairs. Nguyen's passenger, Andre Brutus, died later at Stanford Medical Center, after suffering major injuries in the crash.
