Police say Masterson's car and a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Shannon Lauria collided after Lauria failed to stop at a stop sign. The impact pushed both cars into the front yard of a home in the Holiday City community, and caused the pickup to overturn.

Ann Masterson, 86, of Holiday City died shortly after her 2002 Buick Century collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by Shannon Lauria, 39, also of Holiday City, police said in a news release Sunday.

BERKELEY – A Holiday City woman died after two cars crashed Saturday at the intersection of Jamaica Boulevard and Le Lamentin Drive, Berkeley police said.

Ann Masterson, 86, of Holiday City died shortly after her 2002 Buick Century collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by Shannon Lauria, 39, also of Holiday City, police said in a news release Sunday.

Lauria was driving south on La Lamentin Drive about 5:15 p.m. when she failed to yield at a stop sign, and her Ford struck the passenger side of Masterson’s Buick on Jamaica Boulevard according to police. The impact pushed both cars into the front yard of 544 Jamaica Blvd., and caused the Ford to turn onto its side, police said.

Holiday City First Aid Squad and MONOC Paramedics took Masterson to Community Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said Lauria was not injured.

Lauria was issued summonses for reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigations Unit, Lacey Police Traffic Safety Unit and the Manitou Park Fire Department assisted Berkeley police.
