Suspected drunk driver slams into patrol car, injures deputy : State

CASTRO VALLEY '€” An Alameda County sheriff's deputy has been hospitalized after a suspected drunk driver crashed into his patrol car. California Highway Patrol investigators say the other driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Video from the scene shows the BMW lost a front tire, and the deputy's car sustained major exterior damage. The deputy had been sitting in the parked car with his leg hanging out of the door when a BMW SUV slammed into the vehicle. KTVU-TV reports the collision happened Friday while the deputy was on a traffic stop.
