Lakeport woman killed in suspected DUI crash, driver arrested
A Lakeport man badly injured in a car crash that killed his passenger is facing felony drunken driving charges, according to the CHP.
In Lakeport on Friday night, Nicholas Ivicevich was driving on Park Way north of Lakeshore Boulevard when he lost control of his 1997 Honda Civic while going around a curve. The car left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The impact caused the body of the car to collapse, and a passenger, a 19-year-old woman, had be cut free of the wreckage by firefighters. She was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Ivicevich was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers after they determined that he was intoxicated. He was then flown to an out-of-county hospital with major injuries, including broken ribs and a lacerated liver. Check back for updates on this developing story.
