Julian Ali Thomas 21, killed, one other injured in two car crash on I-280.

A 21-year-old San Carlos man died early Sunday in a car crash on Interstate 280 in Palo Alto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Julian Ali Thomas was heading north on I-280 near Page Mill Road at about 4 a.m. when his car collided with another vehicle, killing him and sending another person to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cars were a four-door BMW and a four-door Nissan, but officers did not know which car Thomas was in or what caused the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers closed two northbound and three southbound lanes of I-280 for several hours. All lanes were re-opened by 8:09 a.m.
