A bicyclist was injured when he was struck by an AC Transit bus in San Francisco's Rincon Hill neighborhood Wednesday, police said.

The bicyclist was riding on Beale Street at about 9:20 a.m. when he turned right onto Folsom Street and was struck by the westbound bus, said police spokesman Sgt. Eric O'Neal.

Officers reported that the bicyclist was conscious and breathing, with slight bleeding from his face, O'Neal said. He was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The bus driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

The incident is under investigation. An AC Transit spokesman said he was unsure if the driver returned to work after the crash, but said the agency was looking into what happened.

"Any time we have an accident, it's a matter of policy that the operator is taken and tested for drugs and alcohol. "We also try and do an investigation into the accident itself, looking into any video available from the bus."

The driver was not injured in the crash.
