The crash happened around 3 a.m. on S Academy Blvd on the overpass over B St. The Colorado State Patrol said a driver went through the center median and crashed a Jeep into a guardrail.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash Sunday morning on Academy Boulevard in El Paso County.

The Jeep then burst into flames and was consumed by fire before firefighters arrived. The driver wasn't able to escape the Jeep and died. Troopers say alcohol use is considered to be a factor in the crash, but are still investigating.
