1 killed, 3 seriously injured in Teller County crash

Troopers are investigating alcohol and/or drug use as possible factors in the crash.
One person was killed and three people seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision in Teller County Monday night shortly before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 24 and Teller CR 81, near Cripple Creek. A car hit an icy roadway and lost control, traveling into the opposite lane and colliding with a second oncoming car, sending the first vehicle down an embankment. The driver of the first car, Shangbao Tang, 38, of Colorado Springs, sustained minor injuries, and passenger in the car, Quanling Guan, 38, of Colorado Springs, suffered serious injuries. A third passenger who wasn't wearing a seat belt, a 30-year-old man from Colorado Springs, died in the crash. The two occupants in the second car, 64-year-old David Tafoya and 68-year-old Lillian Tafoya of Colorado Springs, sustained serious injuries.
