The Colorado State Patrol says a man was injured after crashing while trying to flee a traffic stop on Interstate 25 near Trinidad.

Sgt. Scott Hophan says the woman was stopped Friday evening for suspected drunk driving and then took off.

Southern Colorado woman arrested after brief chase, crash

Shay Santistevan of Trinidad was stopped around 6 p.m., troopers said. When she drove off, troopers pursued her but ended the chase because of the speed Santistevan was driving. They were later notified that her vehicle crashed near Trinidad.

Alcohol and speed were said to be factors in a one-car crash Friday on Interstate 25 near Trinidad.
Troopers state the woman was stopped Friday evening on Interstate 25 near Trinidad for suspected drunk driving and then drove off. The state patrol says troopers called off the chase because they deemed it too dangerous. A short time later the Colorado State Patrol was notified that the fleeing vehicle had crashed while exiting the highway. The woman received minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. Charges against the woman have not been released.
