Houston man dies in plane crash in Colorado

A 60-year-old Houston man died in a plane crash last weekend in Colorado. The Routt County coroner identified the man as Terry Lynn Stewart. The plane he was in crashed near the Colorado town of Steamboat Springs, northwest of Denver. He was riding with William Earl Allen, a certified flight instructor at Journey's Aviation, a business that provides flight training. Allen also was killed in the crash. Stewart's family could not be reached for comment on Monday.
Authorities have identified the two people who died in a plane crash in northern Colorado. The Denver Post reports that Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg identified the two as William Earl Allen, 62, of Broomfield, Colorado, and a flying student, Terry Lynn Stewart, 60, of Houston, Texas. According to Allen's Facebook page, he was a Certified Flight Instructor at Journeys Aviation in Boulder, the Post reports. The newspaper says a person at the aviation company declined to comment Sunday. The plane was headed to Boulder from Steamboat Springs on Saturday. A search for the aircraft began when it was reported overdue. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer tells the Post that the plane was a Piper PA-28. Routt County Search and Rescue incident commander Jim Linville says at least two other planes have crashed in the same area in the past 10 years.
