The Colorado State Patrol said a school bus driver was killed Friday afternoon in a crash on U.S. 285 near Windy Point in Jefferson County. That’s near Conifer.

The highway reopened just after 4:15 p.m. The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the deadly crash that happened four miles east of Aspen Park. That crash involved a bus driver with Jeffco Schools. He was putting chains on a school bus when he was struck by another vehicle. No students were on board the bus. No one else was hurt in the crash. There are several other crashes in that area, mostly involving fender benders. The highway remained closed near Grant, east of Kenosha Pass, for about two hours for accidents and winter driving conditions. That portion of the highway reopened at 4:30 p.m.
