A snowboarder died Tuesday after he crashed into a tree at the Snowmass Ski Resort.

A snowboarder died Tuesday after he crashed into a tree at the Snowmass Ski Resort.

According to a statement from the Aspen Skiing Company released to the Aspen Daily News, the Snowmass Ski Patrol received a report about an injured snowboarder at about 2:46 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews responded to the scene on Gunner’s View Trail, where they found an injured 54-year-old snowboarder from Germany.

The skiing company said the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

He was treated on the mountain before he was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
