Route 4 in Burlington is closed at Post Office Road after a garbage truck brought down wires, according to the state police.

The bucket on the bucket truck was up when the operator was driving and it became entangled in wires, police said. Wires came down on the truck, but the driver was not injured.

Officials said two utility poles are down, along with a transformer that's leaking fuel.

Crews from Connecticut Light & Power and hazardous material crews are at the scene.

Crews from the Department of Transportation are setting up a detour. The road will be shut down for eight to 10 hours or more.

The quickest detour is Upson Road. Crews are trying to get one lane of Route 4 open in time for the evening commute.
