Jogger, 75, killed after being hit by dump truck in Connecticut

Feinn, who was only about half a mile from his New Haven County home, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A jogger was struck and killed by a dump truck Monday while running along a popular cut-through route for drivers looking to avoid Route 10 traffic, according to press reports.

Benjamin Feinn, 75, of Cheshire, was hit around 2:15 p.m. as he jogged south on Mount Sanford Road near Brooksvale Avenue, according to Cheshire police, who continue to investigate.

Feinn, who was only about half a mile from his New Haven County home, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities identified the dump truck driver as George Matar, 54, of Milford, Connecticut, who was southbound on Mount Sanford Road at the time. Matar remained at the crash scene and wasn't cited in connection with the fatal accident.

Speed doesn't appear to have been a factor, police said.

The accident happened near the Farmington Canal Linear State Park Trail, west of Route 10. Roads in the vicinity of the crash scene were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
