One Seriously Injured After Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash in Waterbury

The pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart while trying to cross Wolcott Street near Pep Boys Auto Parts, police said. The car allegedly did not stop and kept driving with the pedestrian still on the hood of the car, according to police.

On Sunday, police said the man succumbed to his injuries at Saint Mary's hospital. His identity is still pending notification to the family.

After DiNicola was detained on a charge of failing to appear, police charged him with evading responsibility, tampering with evidence, and several motor vehicle violations. He was held on a $100,000 bond and is expected to appear today in Waterbury Superior Court.
