Katherine Ann Berman, 67, and Edward Bertulis, 87, killed in rear-end collision on Sherman Hill Road in Woodbury, Connecticut
Berman was the wife of longtime ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman.
The President of ESPN, John Skipper, released the following statement to ESPN.com regarding the crash:
The collision sent Berman’s 2003 Lexus off the road and down an embankment where it overturned in a body of water, per the report. Bertulis’ Ford Escape hit a utility pole and turned over on its roof.
After the death of the wife of legendary ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman, ESPN colleagues and athletes shared condolences and messages of sympathy on social media.
The family is inviting relatives and friends to a memorial service on Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at the Seymour St. John Chapel at Choate Rosemary Hall School, 333 Christian St. in Wallingford, according to her obituary.
Connecticut officials say the wife of longtime ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman died from blunt trauma and drowning after her car hit another vehicle in May.
The family of Bertulis has filed a lawsuit alleging that a Woodbury restaurant served alcohol to Berman while she was intoxicated before the crash.
