On Saturday morning, 37-year-old Rafhel Mahese was killed on Interstate 95 northbound just before State Road 207 in St. Johns County. Investigators said the van he was driving was pulled over with its hood up when a semitruck or a motor home hit the driver.
A 37-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on northbound Interstate 95 sometime between Friday night Saturday morning in St. Johns County. The victim’s body was found just before 7 a.m. near the Florida 207 exit. A 2006 Ford E250 van was disabled on the shoulder of the freeway when a passing vehicle collided with the van. That passing vehicle then hit Rafhel A. Mahese of Davie, who died on the scene. It appears that Mahese got out of the van after it became disabled and was standing near the front fender when the passing vehicle collided with the van and Mahese. But troopers did say the possible suspect vehicle is a white semi tractor trailer truck or motorhome that has a broken right headlight and possible dark gray transfer paint on the bumper. Troopers say they have no leads or witnesses to the crash.
