A 14-year-old boy was critically injured Wednesday morning in an ATV crash in Hilliard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The right front tire of the ATV hit a dirt curb and Howell was thrown off, landing in the middle of the road.
14-year-old Joel Stephen Howell was riding an ATV to the north on Jaguar Drive at about 7:45 a.m. when he failed to properly negotiate a curve in the road, hit the curb, and was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet, sustained critical injuries, and has since been transported to UF Health Jacksonville.
