Rocky Lynn West was driving a Ford Fusion south in the inside lane on I-95 when he came up on a Freightliner truck in the center lane just before 6:40 a.m., coming, the Highway Patrol said. The Fusion swerved into the center lane and hit the truck’s left rear corner, then overturned one-and-a-half times, the Highway Patrol said. The Fusion slid on its roof before stopping in the inside lane, while the truck stopped on the right shoulder.
West was driving with a suspended license. Both he and the truck driver Jose Herminio Diaz, 55, of Jacksonville were both wearing seat belts and were not injured, the Highway Patrol said.
