Jacksonville police officer injured during traffic stop crash on Arlington Expressway

One of two Jacksonville police detectives working in an unmarked pickup truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle while investigating a van that had been stopped along the Arlington Expressway, police said.

Officer injured in Arlington Expressway accident

A detective is hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle while talking to a motorist on Arlington Expressway on Wednesday morning. The service road and one eastbound lane of Arlington Expressway were closed until about 11:30 a.m.

Adam Blinn and another police detective were working in an unmarked red pickup truck when they were investigating a van that had stopped along the Arlington Expressway and was causing delays.The detectives got out of the pickup to talk to the occupants of the van when the pickup was struck by a Turner Pest Control truck. The impact of the collision knocked Blinn into a light pole, causing what were initially thought to be serious injuries.
