An 80-year-old man died in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Yulee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An 80-year-old man died in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Yulee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said James Strobel, of The Villages, was a passenger in a van turning left from State Road 200 onto Interstate 95 northbound about 12:05 p.m.

Troopers said a tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on S.R. 200 in the right lane and approaching the intersection when the driver of the van, 75-year-old Wayne Richardson, failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn.

The tractor-trailer struck the right side of the van, where Strobel was sitting.

Strobel was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died.

Richardson, of Hobe Sound, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger were not hurt.

A 78-year-old woman was killed after crashing into a tree in Davidson County Friday morning.

Frances Rose of Thomasville died in the single-car crash just before 9 a.m. on Holly Grove Road near Lohr Road in Davidson County.

Rose was driving a 2008 Kia car west on Holly Grove Road when she overcorrected twice, causing her to run off the road to the right and overturn, troopers said. The roof of the car hit a tree, and Rose was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rose was driving too fast for the rainy conditions, troopers said.

One of two people were injured when their vehicle went off a road and crashed into a tree in Cass County.

The vehicle wrecked along westbound Gage Street, just west of Twin Lakes Road, in Wayne Township, northeast of Dowagiac, around 7:24 p.m. Monday.

The driver, 32-year-old Harley Rose from Dowagiac, told police he lost control of his vehicle, according to a news release, but police did not say why.

He was not hurt.

Rose Marie Dawson-Haislit, 53, of Ocala, has been upgraded to serious condition at Ocala Regional Medical Center after arriving Oct. 10th, 2014 in critical condition following a crash in which her DHL truck lost control, crossed the median of Southeast 32nd Street, and collided with Christopher James O'Brian, 33, who was driving a Sherwin Williams box truck. O'Brian was treated for minor injuries and released.

U.S. 50 was closed in Stonelick Township after a fatal crash early Friday.

ODOT confirmed two people were killed in a crash east of the intersection with Ohio 222 just before 7 a.m. while a truck was going east toward Owensville.

“Apparently at some point, the trailer from the semi had broken free from the power unit and slid left of center and ended up striking two separate vehicles,” a spokesman said.

At least four vehicles struck the trailer or each other.

Two St. Pete women are accused in a violent road rage attack against another woman.

St. Petersburg Police say it happened around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Rose Lucarell was driving south on 34th Street and had to honk her horn at the women's vehicle to prevent an accident, according to a SPPD spokesperson.

Amber Lynn Beckwith, 26, and Ariel Young, 22, then pulled their car next to Lucarell, yelled at her and gestured at her with their middle fingers.

Lucarell rolled down her window and asked them to stop. Police say Young threw a water bottle at her.

A crash involving a single golf cart on a Southern California course led to the arrest of an allegedly drunken cart driver whose intoxicated passenger had fallen out of the moving vehicle, authorities said.

Jeffrey Rose, 35, of La Quinta, was arrested Sunday afternoon on suspicion of driving under the influence at La Quinta Resort/PGA West Club House, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Monday.

Police responded to the course about 5:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a single-vehicle crash involving a golf cart.
