Pedestrian killed in Lauderdale Lakes is identified

The pedestrian who was struck and killed crossing State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes has been identified. Broward Sheriff's traffic homicide investigators say Goonwatty Ramnarine, 59, of Margate, was crossing in the middle of the 4000 block of State Road 7 near Park Lakes Elementary School, just before 7 a.m. Granville Robinson, 68, of North Lauderdale, was driving southbound in the far left lane on State Road 7 south of Northwest 41st Street when his Toyota Corolla's front bumper struck Ramnarine, according to detectives. Northbound traffic crawled past the crash scene as other pedestrians stood on the sidewalk speculating about who was at fault. Some said adults and children cross in the middle of the street all the time to get to and from the school.
