A 13-year-old girl was killed in a crash involving two motorcycles in Central Florida, and investigators are trying to determine if a deer caused the fatal accident.

The crash happened around noon Sunday on Courtenay Parkway near Taylor Road in northern Brevard County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Jessica Dalrymple, of Merritt Island, was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by 67-year-old Michael Bowers.

The FHP says 64-year-old Grace Bowers was riding her motorcycle behind them when Jessica fell off the bike for an unknown reason. The motorcycles collided and the Bowers, who weren't wearing helmets, were thrown to the ground.

Jessica died at the scene.

Troopers said it's unknown if Jessica was wearing a helmet, but her family told Local 6 that the girl had a helmet on while she was riding.

Michael Bowers was in serious condition and Grace Bowers was in critical condition at a local hospital.

FHP investigators are looking into reports that the first motorcycle struck a deer before the crash.
