FHP: Motorcyclist killed after struck by elderly woman's vehicle

Charges are pending against Johnson, according to the FHP. She was not seriously injured.
A 61-year-old Ormond Beach motorcyclist died Saturday when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle driven by an elderly woman in Volusia County. The motorcyclist, Robert Clayton, died after being transported to the hospital. Katherine Johnson, 82, was heading southbound on State Road 415 and was turning left on SR 44 when she cut in front of Clayton's motorcycle, which was going northbound. Clayton attempted to avoid a collision by braking and laying the motorcycle on the ground, but he was still hit. He was not wearing a helmet.
