At a news conference on Monday, police said they have several leads into the car that hit Tena and that they're not sure if the person knew they hit someone.

Teen ejected in crash, then struck by hit-and-run vehicle, police say

“The family is devastated and dealing with the events of last night,” Apopka Police spokeswoman Kim Walsh said. 

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of State Road 429 near State Road 414, a Ford Expedition carrying three teens left the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting 16-year-old Jasmine Tena. She was the struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The driver of the Expedition, Teodora Llanas, Jr., 19, and another passenger, Demetrio Rangel, 19, both of Apopka, were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Both are expected to survive. Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver, and anyone with information is asked to call the Apopka Police Department at 407-703-1771 or Crimeline at 407-423-TIPS.
