Troopers said the driver, identified as Shawn Doolan, 35, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, was traveling around 60 miles an hour when he hit Braly.
A driver has been charged with DUI manslaughter in a wreck that killed a western North Carolina woman who was on vacation in Florida.
Elizabeth Braly, 45, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday in the town of Daytona Beach Shores. Florida Highway Patrol officials said Braly was walking with her family when a drunk driver plowed through a toll booth and hit her.
Braly was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members told FOX Carolina Wednesday night that Braly, a mother of seven children, was visiting family members in the Daytona Beach area and frequented that area often.
Troopers said the driver, identified as Shawn Doolan, 35, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, was traveling around 60 miles an hour when he hit Braly.
Doolan bonded out of the Volusia County Jail on a $12,000 bond Wednesday afternoon.
