Pedestrian airlifted after being hit by train, Kissimmee police say.

A male pedestrian was hit by a train Wednesday afternoon in Kissimmee, according to police.

A male pedestrian was hit by a train Wednesday afternoon in Kissimmee, according to police.

Kissimmee police and fire crews responded to the crash at 3 p.m.that occurred near Smith and Vine streets.

Police said the male pedestrian, who is in his late teens to early 20s, was wearing headphones at the time of the crash.

The victim was airlifted to a local hospital, police said. It's not clear what the pedestrian's condition is.

Vine Street is closed in both directions between Main Street and Michigan Avenue, as the train remains in the middle of Vine Street. Police said motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
