New Smyrna Beach police said one man was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning.

On Sunday night, his friends and family packed the Elks Lodge on Tiffany Street in Springfield to raise money and awareness. They told 22News they plan of setting up a fund to help the children of future motorcycle accident victims.

New Smyrna Beach police said one man was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning.

Police said the accident happened at 12:07 a.m. Saturday at North Causeway and North Riverside Drive.

Police said 46-year-old Mark Twining was killed and 29-year-old Robert Wilson was injured, both from Springfiled, Mass.

Police said Twining lost control of his motorcycle was driving west on North Causeway.

Witnesses told police that Twining and Wilson were in the center lane to pass traffic at a high rate of speed.

Police said both drivers lost control of their motorcycles at the intersection and Twining hit a utility pole while Wilson crashed inside Old Fort Park.

Police said Wilson was treated and released for minor injuries.

Police said Twining was wearing helmet that was not Department of Transportation approved.

Alcohol is suspected to be factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by traffic homicide detectives.

It is believed this is the first fatal accident of Bike Week 2014.
