Driver sought in Orange County fatal hit-and-run

Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver they say struck a bicyclist in Orange County early Friday morning.

Troopers said the 56-year-old pedestrian that was walking or standing with a bicycle along the edge of the roadway on Taft Vineland Road and Sidney Hayes Road Friday just after midnight when he was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The driver fled the scene, troopers said. The pedestrian's identity hasn't been released, pending next of kin notification.

No vehicle description was immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, Florida Highway Patrol said.
