The Villages man dies from injuries after golf cart crash

A man from The Villages has died from injuries sustained when his golf cart crashed with a van Tuesday. It happened at 3:40 p.m.  at the intersection of Odell Circle and Ambrosia Place in The Villages.   Troopers said Donald T. Browne died Wednesday and Dorothy A. Browne is in serious condition. Browne and his passenger, 77-year-old Dorothy A. Browne, were both transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. The Florida Highway Patrol said Donald T. Browne, 79, was driving his golf car northbound on Odell Circle south of Ambrosia Place and turned into the path of van driven by Merle L. Hoops of The Villages.

Man killed, woman injured in golf-cart crash in The Villages

A man was killed and a woman seriously injured while riding in a golf cart in The Villages, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The 2003 Ford van, driven by Merle Hoops, of The Villages, crashed into the driver's side of Browne's golf cart, troopers said. Dorothy Browne, 77, was also riding in the golf cart when it was hit. Browne, of The Villages, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he died early Wednesday. Troopers said Donald Browne, 79, was driving a golf cart on Odell Circle near Ambrosia Place Tuesday afternoon when he turned into the path of the van following behind him.
