Troopers say Passengers Weren't Wearing Seat Belts in Fatal Crash
That vehicle, driven by Minnie Smith, braked and steered out of the roadway onto the dirt portion of Popular Springs Road, according to FHP. It skidded and collided with Thomas and Holmes's vehicle on the front right side. The Trooper's report says the five individuals in Thomas and Holmes's vehicle, were not wearing seat belts. One of those passengers, Casey Holmes, also had serious injuries. The other two passengers were ages 4 and 5. There were two passengers in Smith's vehicle as well, one of which was also not wearing a seat belt.
Marianna woman dies in crash
A Marianna woman was killed and a Georgia resident seriously injured Monday in a traffic crash on U.S. 90 between Marianna and Cypress. Six others received minor injuries in the two-vehicle accident. Cheryl L. Holmes, 46, died at the scene of the crash and was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Panama City. Another passenger in the vehicle with Holmes, 24-year-old Casey L. Holmes of Widner, Georgia, was taken to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
