Man dies after boat sinks in Callaway Bayou
The boat began to have engine trouble off the 7000 block of Sunrise Point, according to BCSO. After attempts to restart the motor failed, the men realized the boat was taking on water and decided to swim to shore.

Christopher Lee Burkett, 43, and Andrew McCrory Byrd III, 44, both of Panama City, were occupants of a 1999 15-foot Bass Cat boat that sank Wednesday evening. Several agencies responded to the mouth of Callaway Bayou about 6:45 p.m., where they pulled Byrd from the water and attempted to resuscitate him. Their efforts were unsuccessful.
