UPDATE: Teen killed after watercraft, boat crash

Officials said McDaniel was facing backward, toward the group following behind him, at about 5:40 p.m. when he careened into the front, port-side of the vessel and was ejected from the personal watercraft.

Moulder, wildlife officers and members of the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in pulling him from the water. 

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, 17-year-old Storm Davis McDaniel died Wednesday night after his personal watercraft and a 20-foot boat collided in Panama City Beach. McDaniel was leading a group of people on personal watercraft for a tour in the Grand Lagoon when he struck a 20-foot boat operated by James D. Moulder of Brewton, Alabama.
