The officer was guarding a perimeter and redirecting traffic in front of the Sonic at 4239 U.S. 231, when a van failed to slow down and ran into the side, narrowly missing the officer as he dived out of the way, police reported. The officer made repeated attempts to stop the car before the impact. The driver and passenger in the van sustained minor injuries. She also said she did not see the patrol car, police reported.
