Two drivers died when a 91-year-old man driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 near the Florida-Georgia border late Friday night stuck an SUV and a Greyhound bus.

Two Florida men died and 13 people were sent to local hospitals with minor injuries in a five vehicle crash involving a Greyhound bus on Interstate 75 in Jasper late last night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An Atlanta-bound Greyhound bus was involved in a fatal, five-vehicle crash near the Florida-Georgia border, a spokeswoman with the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Two drivers died when a 91-year-old man driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 near the Florida-Georgia border late Friday night stuck an SUV and a Greyhound bus.

Troopers said a 91-year-old driver was diving south in the northbound lanes when they ran head-on into the bus and a Ford Expedition at mile marker 449, about 10 miles south of Jasper in Hamilton County.

The car's driver, Ernest Lee Holmes, 91, from High Springs, Florida was killed in the accident, according to the FHP report. Peter Linek, 55, of Ormond Beach, who was driving the SUV also died.

The bus left Orlando about 8:15 p.m. and had made a stop in Gainesville before heading north toward Atlanta. The Florida Highway Patrol was called just before midnight to the scene of the accident.

Troopers said there were 42 passengers on board the bus at the time of the crash and 13 of them sustained injuries.

FHP's Traffic Homicide Investigation unit is investigating the multiple-vehicle crash.

A Baldwin Middle-Senior High School student is on life support after a crash near the Florida-Georgia border Monday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 17-year-old Richard Baer was on a hunting trip with three friends in Charlton County, Ga., when their car drove off Stokes Road and hit a tree.

Baer was taken to UF Health Jacksonville.

Troopers said Baer and his friends were near St. George, Ga., when the car they were riding in moved off the shoulder of the road and hit a tree.

A Falmouth man is dead after a one-car crash early Thursday.

It happened on Route 6 eastbound, near Exit 3 around 1 a.m. A state trooper working a construction detail nearby, reported a car entered the work zone and collided with a flatbed truck.

The trooper removed the man, identified as Alexander D. Holmes, 26, from the car and rendered first aid until EMTs arrived. Holmes was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he later died.

Police have not said what may have led to the crash.

PORTLAND -- A Vancouver teen was killed Sunday afternoon after being hit near the Greyhound bus depot in downtown Portland.
She was identified Monday as Monserrat Hernandez Garcia, 18, by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office.
Garcia was hit around 3:50 p.m. at Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street, Portland police said. Officers said she died at the scene.

One person was killed and three others were injured in a one-car crash on Rutherford Boulevard early Wednesday morning.

Police say Robert S. Cook, from Burns, TN, lost his life as a passenger in the car that crashed about 3:30 a.m. on Rutherford Boulevard near Prestwick Drive.

According to authorities, the driver, Sheila Holmes, lost control of the car on a curve, hit the center median, then hit a utility pole on the other side of the road.

A 91-year-old Hendersonville man in a pickup was driving west in the eastbound lane of I-26 around 9:30 p.m. Monday when he hit a car driven by 36-year-old Samuel David Guberman of Greer, South Carolina, who died at the scene, as did the 91-year-old driver. No further information is available at this time; check back for updates.

The Rabun County coroner has identified the pilot killed when his small plane crashed in northeast Georgia over the weekend.

The director of Rabun County's Emergency Management Agency, Mike Mazarky, said the plane crashed Saturday morning after taking off from a private airport west of Clayton.

The pilot was identified as Ernest Merkelis, 62, of Clayton, according to the coroner.

The plane carried no other passengers.

Investigators at the Federal Aviation Administration were expected at the crash scene on Monday.
