Pedestrian killed on I-4 in Polk County

The Ford F-150 was driven by Maykel Rodriguez Prieto, 35, of Palm Coast. Deborah Kim Butler, 57, of Lithia, was behind the wheel of the Pontiac Torrent. Neither driver nor their passengers were injured.
A pedestrian was hit and killed on Interstate 4 in Polk County early on Saturday, January 3. The deceased is identified as Daniel J. Vavra, 29, of Lakeland. He was standing in the center lane of eastbound I-4 at the time of the collision just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, when a 2007 Ford F-150 and a 2006 Pontiac Torrent traveling eastbound were unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian standing on the interstate. Both vehicles hit Vavra, who was pronounced deceased at the crash site. It is not known why he was standing in the roadway.
