Troopers said Thompson, for unknown reasons, lost control of the 2000 Saturn he was driving. The Saturn left the road and hit the woman who was walking along the paved shoulder of U.S. 19.
FHP: Suspect in fatal hit-and-run collision, arrested, charged with DUI in Pasco
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver, Craig Thompson, 57, was traveling north when he lost control of his vehicle, left the road and struck a pedestrian who was walking along the paved shoulder of the highway.
The pedestrian, Doreen Anne Bergmann of New Port Richey, 56, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, the FHP said on Saturday.
