A 52-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup as he walked down an Auburndale road late Saturday night, Polk County deputies said. John Marcus Haney, of Lakeland, was found on the south shoulder of U.S. 92 west of Payne Road early Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Lakeland
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide deputies are currently conducting a fatal crash investigation in which a pedestrian was struck and killed.

John Marcus Haney was walking on the shoulder of US 92 east near Combee Road when he was struck by a pickup driven by Paul Marx, 41. Haney was killed in the crash. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation continues.
