A man has been charged with DUI after his vehicle crashed into a motorcyclist and dragged the motorcycle down city streets. Luis Perez, 49, of St. Petersburg, initially struck a car on 30th Avenue North around 8:45 p.m. Thursday. Perez fled from that collision at high speed heading westbound on 30th Ave. N, where he struck the motorcycle, driven by 37-year-old Alexander Galindo. The motorcycle became wedged under the truck. Galindo was dragged about 100 feet, and the motorcycle continued to be dragged another 10 blocks. Witnesses chased and caught Perez when he stopped for a red light. Galindo was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medical treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
