David Adam Cornell, 20, hit and seriously injured by hit-and-run driver on Bee Ridge Rd in Sarasota, Florida

A 20-year-old Bay area man was seriously injured Saturday morning when he was hit by a vehicle while walking along Bee Ridge Rd. in Sarasota. David Adam Cornell was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report the incident occurred just after 5 a.m. just west of Center Gate Blvd. Investigators say Cornell, a Sarasota resident, was walking on the sidewalk when the unidentified vehicle left the roadway, went up on the sidewalk and hit him. The victim was knocked to the ground and suffered unspecified injuries. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on Bee Ridge Rd.
