According to the police department, the crash happened at the road’s intersection with 53rd Street North around 5:40 a.m. Feb. 20. After the man was hit, the truck took off.

Police say a vehicle matching the description of the dump truck was located near 50th Street and Interstate 4. A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over the truck.
