A mother, later identified as Kerri Chavez, 32, and her two young children and a semi driver were injured Thursday in a crash at Northlake and Hall boulevards in The Acreage. The sheriff's office said a tractor-trailer was traveling west on Northlake Boulevard when a sport-utility vehicle, which was traveling north on Hall Boulevard, ran the stop sign at the intersection. Firefighters had to extricate the occupants from the vehicles using heavy extrication tools, said Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The mother and two children in the SUV were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital via TraumaHawk in critical condition, said the sheriff's office. The driver of the semi, later identified as Orestes J. Campa, was also taken to St. Mary’s in serious condition. The intersection remains closed due to a 25- to 30-gallon fuel spill, which has been contained.
