A Lake Worth man and a West Palm Beach woman died Friday morning when they were thrown from their motorcycle over an Interstate 95 ramp, the Florida Highway Patrol said Saturday morning.

The driver was Timothy Jacob Pavelka Sr., 57, said a FHP spokesman. His passenger was Christina Michelle Debonis, 43.
Neither was wearing a helmet when the motorcycle crashed just before 9:15 a.m. Friday. The cause of the crash — and whether alcohol played any role in it — remains under investigation, FHP said.

Pavelka was driving his 2005 Harley Davidson Road King on the southbound ramp to I-95 from westbound Okeechobee Boulevard when he apparently lost control of the motorcycle.
The right side of the motorcycle struck the concrete wall on the west side of the ramp. The impact of the crash threw both Pavelka and Debonis over the retaining wall to their deaths. Their bodies landed on the grass median below the ramp.

The motorcycle continued moving after the crash, striking the ramp’s east wall before falling on its side and stopping.

The entrance ramp was closed to traffic for about three hours Friday as investigators worked the scene.
