Acosta, whom deputies report was driving at a high rate of speed, “violently impacted” the back of Martinez’s 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander, sending it spinning more than 200 feet into the middle lane and coming to rest in the outside eastbound lane.

Alexander Acosta was booked into the county jail on DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. Authorities say Acosta was involved in a crash on the night of March 18 that killed Carmen Martinez, 58, of Hialeah.

Alexander Acosta also may have been racing with another car when he crashed his red 2012 Hyundai into the rear of Carmen Martinez’s Mitsubishi, killing her instantly, witnesses told investigators from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
