2 die in fiery crash of car, semitrailer on Georgia highway

Authorities say two people were killed when a vehicle collided with a semitrailer in a fiery crash in northeast Georgia. Monday on Georgia Highway 316 in Oconee County. Police say the vehicle burst into flames after it was dragged nearly 200 feet by the big rig, which was carrying large spools of paper. The identities of the motorists who were killed were not immediately available.

Two people are dead after crashing into a tractor-trailer in Oconee County late Monday night. The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 316 near McNutt Creek Road, just west of Athens. The vehicle burst into flames after it was dragged nearly 200 feet by the truck. Police say a vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into a tractor-trailer carrying large spools of paper. Two people were trapped inside the vehicle and both died as a result of the crash.

The wreck involved a tractor trailer truck loaded with huge spools of paper and a passenger car, according to the Oconee County Sheriff'€™s Office. At least two people lost their lives in a Monday night collision on Georgia 316 in Oconee County. The TV station noted that the car ran a stop sign before striking the rear of the big rig. Atlanta-based WXIA reported Tuesday morning that the vehicle involved in the wreck was fleeing from authorities. The fatal crash shut down the highway for most of the night.

Dashcam footage shows fiery end to deadly crash

The two people were trapped inside while the fire consumed the trailer’s cargo – large spools of paper, which made huge flames. Neither person was able to survive the intensity of the burn. The passenger of the vehicle has been identified as 20-year-old Jessica Cannon, of Braselton, Ga. The driver has not been identified.

Driver identified in fatal Oconee County crash

Georgia State Troopers identified the male driver as 24 year old Stephen Edward Crimmins of Winder. Troopers said Crimmins was the driver of a Jeep Patriot that fled from Oconee County Sheriff's Deputies on September 14.
